In her mind, Valley State President Martha Lambert has already made the tough decision—to build a free-standing Latino Cultural Center in a central campus location. Now, in preparation for an upcoming Board of Trustees meeting, she must consider the consequences (likely contentious and vocal) of her decision. To aid with preparations for her Board presentation, President Lambert consults with her personally selected President’s Committee on Institutional Change, a group comprised of senior administrators and key faculty members. She asks the committee to identify implications of the decision she plans to announce at the upcoming Board meeting, including ramifications for the larger campus community, precedents going forward, and potential unintended consequences resulting from her actions.
