    The Literacy Campaign in Cuba

    The Cuban Literacy Campaign confronted the problem of illiteracy brought about by an inadequate national educational system, lack of incentives to become literate, and low levels of school attendance. In this article, Abel Prieto Morales documents Cuba's efforts to conquer these problems and traces the history and success of the Literacy Campaign. The story is one of solidarity, in which people from all walks of life work together to eliminate illiteracy as they build a new society.
