The Influences of Salaries and "Opportunity Costs" on Teachers' Career Choices:
Evidence from North Carolina
A recent study focusing on the factors influencing the career paths of white teachers in North Carolina who were first hired between 1976 and 1978 is presented. The implications of the findings for policy and for teacher supply and demand are discussed.
