Apr 1, 2008
The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP), the nonprofit professional organization for educational publishers and content developers, has announced the finalists for the 2008 AEP Awards.
"In a world of iPods, social networking, online gaming, and instant information, capturing the attention of today's students becomes a bigger challenge every day," said Charlene Gaynor, CEO of AEP. "This year's finalists effectively reach out to digital natives in creative ways and provide useful and convenient support to time-starved teachers."
The Harvard Education Letter is a finalist in the following categories: Best Editorial for “Is Coaching the Best Use of Resources?” by Elizabeth City and for “High-Stakes Testing and the Corruption of America’s Schools” by David Berliner and Sharon Nichols; Best How-To-Feature for “Better Teaching with Web Tools” by Colleen Gillard; Best Interview/Profile for “An interview with Sharon Griffin: Doing the Critical Things First”; Best News Story for “Charting a New Course Toward Racial Integration”; and Best Overall Newsletter.
The Distinguished Achievement Awards (DAAs) recognize the best educational resources within the categories of Curriculum, Periodicals, and Professional Development. The DAAs are evaluated on traits such as efficacy, usability, and overall educational value and judged by an expert panel of educators, editors, designers, and technology specialists. The winners will be announced on June 6 at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
