    Dear President Obama,

I'm a 10th grader who tries hard in everything she does. Even in subjects in school I'm not very good at I try.

Even though I work so hard I still dread Regents exams with a passion. In 9th grade I failed my Algebra Regents and I was devastated that I had to take it over. I studied so hard for that test and sometimes I feel like I was doomed to fail. Math was always a subject that would cause me problems, a re-occurring problem. I’d have trouble but always get the help I needed so I could learn to do it on my own. Each year was always the same and it always made me feel down. I learned that, in order to follow my dream of becoming an artist, I may have to major in math anyways for college, so this doesn’t make things easier.

In your presidency, for some reason I fear that because we are "competing," I think there will be more regents. I dread the fact that I still have to pass 5 to graduate. I want to get out of high school, but I don't want to drop out. I fear that I will have to pass more than the usual 5. I hope you come up with a different option for students to graduate high school without the many Regents. You can think of a new way that students could feel more confident demonstrating their abilities.

Even if you do this though, it will only apply for public schools. Private schools will still be in a big disadvantage. Will you do something for them? I was in a Catholic school before and the education isn't much better. I think they need help too. They can't always do it alone.

All I want is a way to graduate; I want out of this group of immaturity.

    Sincerely,
    Dominique Jamison
