Case Studies in Higher Education

For more than 35 years, the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education (HIHE) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education has provided professional development opportunities to higher education administrators from around the world. Historically, the case study has been a primary method of instruction employed by faculty in many of Harvard’s leadership development programs. Since HIHE’s inception, over 500 case studies have been developed, covering a range of topics. Included on our website, are the most recent and widely used cases in the collection.

Case studies are listed under 10 major subject headings:
Each case study includes a description, length, setting, and topics of the case study discussed.

  • Hard copy (standard shipping options)
You can also purchase permission to reprint any case study by adding this option to the shopping cart. You must specify the number of copies you plan to make in the space provided.

Cost of Cases:
  • $7.95 per copy for principal or A cases
  • $4.95 each B, C, or other supplementary case studies
  • Permission to reprint is $4.95 per reprinted copy.
