    About Harvard Educational Review

HER is a quarterly scholarly journal of research and opinion in education. HER is published by the Harvard Education Publishing Group and is affiliated with the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Beginning in 1950, the editorial board has been composed entirely of doctoral students at Harvard University.

About serving on the HER Editorial Board

The 2021-2023 Editorial Board members will serve a two-year term during which they oversee the content of the journal and associated special publications. Board membership provides an opportunity to discuss issues of importance in education, develop collaborative relationships with scholars and colleagues, and gain editorial skills and scholarly publishing experience.

    What happens next

After submission of the application, a current board member will contact you to schedule a one-hour interview for mid-late February or early March. (To do this, you will use an electronic sign-up process.) This interview is a required part of the application process.

Following the Zoom-based interview, the editors will send you editing tasks that simulate essential board work. You will have 72 hours to return these assignments to HER. Given the 72 hour turnaround time, please plan accordingly when scheduling the interview.

The editorial board welcomes questions from potential applicants about the application process and editorial work. Questions and requests for more information may be addressed to Maya Holden Cohen, mayacohen@g.havard.edu (current Development Editor and chair of recruitment for the 2020-2021 editorial board).
    Thank you for your interest.
