    Apply to Serve on the Harvard Educational Review Editorial Board

    The Harvard Educational Review (HER) is currently recruiting a new cohort to serve on the Editorial Board from May 2022- June 2024. This is a paid position open to Harvard University Ph.D students in their first, second and third years; and to EdLD students in their first year.

    The deadline to submit an application is Monday, February 7, 2022.
    (Faculty recommendations are due Monday, February 14, 2022 at the latest)

    About Harvard Educational Review

    HER is a quarterly scholarly journal of research and opinion in education. HER is published by the Harvard Education Publishing Group and is affiliated with the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Beginning in 1950, the editorial board has been composed entirely of doctoral students at Harvard University.

    About serving on the HER Editorial Board

    The 2022-2024 Editorial Board members will serve a two-year term during which they oversee the content of the journal and associated special publications. Board membership provides an opportunity to discuss issues of importance in education, develop collaborative relationships with scholars and colleagues, and gain editorial skills and scholarly publishing experience.

    HER’s online application submission is managed through https://hepg.submittable.com/submit/
    Go to the URL, and scroll down the welcome page to 2022-2024 HER Editorial Board Application. Complete the registration screen, fill out Sections 1, 2 and 3, and then upload Sections 4, 5, 6, and 7 directly on the Submittable system.

    Though applications must be submitted online, you can access the application on Word as well.

    What happens next 

    After submission of the application, a current board member will contact you to schedule a one-hour interview for late February- early March. (To do this, you will use an electronic sign-up process.) This interview is a required part of the application process.

    Following the interview, the editors will send you editing tasks that simulate essential board work. You will have 72 hours to return these assignments to HER. Given the 72 hour turnaround time, please plan accordingly when scheduling the interview.
